As Islamophobia and misconceptions about Islam are on a rise, there is an increasing need for Muslims to help clear these misconceptions. Many attain information about the faith through the wrong sources.
For this reason, each year ICNA NY sets up many 877-Why-Islam ISlam Info Tables through out New York, including locations such as Central Park and Times Square.
This spring 2011 we will continue this important initiative, stay tuned on the schedule and volunteer opportunities.
In 2010, ICNA NY held 11 Back-to-School Giveaway events across the New York Metropolitan area, including Bronx, Brooklyn, Long Island, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and Westchester.
At each of these giveaway programs, hundreds of needy families will be given free school bags filled with school supplies, serving around 4,000 children from needy households. These programs are aimed to serve those who are in need, no matter their race, religion or gender.
This project is an embodiment of the teachings of Islam, as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself said "Whoever goes to bed while his neighbor is hungry is not a true believer".
